Hales Homecare reveals winners of biggest ever reward scheme

Hales Homecare has announced the names of the care workers who have received a cash prize through its Hales Heroes reward scheme.

In December, the company, which has 25 branches across the country, announced that it would be awarding £600 to 30 deserving carers.

The scheme was introduced to reward care staff for their exceptional work, as well as those that have gone above and beyond the call of duty for their colleagues and service users.

Mary Appleton, one of the winners from the Wakefield branch, commented: “It’s been a very tough year with everything going on, but I’m happy to have helped make a lot of people smile and feel better. That’s all I strive for every day. I’m very grateful [for the award].”

Katy Spencer, another winner, was touched upon receiving her award. She said: “I was quite emotional when I found out, I’ve never won anything before.”

“There’s no such thing as a typical day in care, it is different every day and that’s what I love about the job.”

Carla Spreadbridge, care coordinator in the Ipswich branch had glowing reviews for another winner, Deborah Bridges. She said: “We spoke to Deborah today when she came in for her presentation and asked her what she loved about working as a care worker and she said, ‘I love building good relationships with service users and carers.’”

When Sheffield winner Leila Plant was asked what she would be spending the money on, she replied: “I’ll be treating myself to a cheeky Nando’s.”

Commenting on the 2021 awards Nicola Mewse, managing director of Hales Homecare said: “It has been an incredibly challenging period in social care history, and we wanted to provide a platform for recognising and rewarding as many of our loyal staff as possible in our most recent draw.”

She continued: “Every individual awarded a place in the prize draw had to meet the threshold for entry which in itself is recognition of their outstanding achievements.”

“Each and every one of our Hales Homecare team have demonstrated their commitment and responsibility to providing valuable support to the communities in which we operate, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them all for their service.”
