Care Hero Recognised in Grimsby

Grimsby is an area which values its community and also provides recognition where it’s due via their Heart of Your Community awards. These awards are the perfect way to demonstrate how important it is for companies and individuals to work together to enhance the lives of those around them. What’s more, the social care industry continues to face scrutiny. Just as Age UK’s charity director Caroline Abrahams said, “Care in England is in an awful mess and we can’t go on as we are.”
Therefore, awards such as these that highlight the good works people do that helps to encourage people to be and do better.
This is why one care provider, Hales Home Care, introduced the Hales Heroes Award; an award given for excellence, in recognition of the work their teams of care workers do every day. Qualifying care staff who meet the criteria centred on reliability, quality, and professional competence are entered into the monthly draw with the opportunity of winning £1,000 and being hailed as a Hales Hero.

This month Pam Mackin, a care worker from their Grimsby branch received the Hales Hero Award for Excellence. Pam commented “I have been an employee of Hales for three years and have worked in care for 14 years. I was shocked to be informed I had won the prize. I couldn’t believe my luck. I have never won anything before in my life. It makes me feel appreciated and valued to have been put forward for the chance to win. I think Hales Heroes is a good incentive to encourage everyone to follow the right processes which improve the quality of care we give to our service users.”
“I am 65 next year and my husband is 60, so we’re going on our last holiday abroad together. Some of the money I’ve won will go towards the holiday and the rest is for me to treat myself. I am so grateful to have won, it means the world to me.”
Hales Home Care believes it is only by supporting their workforce, rewarding them well for the work that they do and recognising the challenges they face that the industry can start to raise the profile of care workers and evidence to those considering the profession, the value the role gives in their communities.
