Care Hero Recognised in Doncaster

Social care is an industry under significant scrutiny and with individuals and their employers carrying the weight of responsibility relating to the quality, speed and effectiveness of the care delivered, often with little consideration for the environmental challenges, particularly in rural areas.

This is why one care provider, Hales Home Care, has introduced the Hales Heroes Award; an award is given for excellence, in recognition of the work their team of care workers do every day. Qualifying care staff who meet the criteria centred on reliability, quality and professional competence are entered into the monthly draw with the opportunity of winning £1,000 and being hailed as a Hales Hero.

This month Rebecca Worrall, a care worker from their Doncaster branch received the Hales Hero Award for Excellence. Having joined Hales as a care worker in January 2017, Rebecca was overjoyed to have been recognised in such a way for the work she does. She plans to spend her award on a holiday with her son. Rebecca commented “My son is having an operation soon, so the holiday will be lovely for us all to have a nice break together”. Hales Home Care believe it is only by supporting their workforce, rewarding them well for the work that they do and recognising the challenges they face that the industry can start to raise the profile of care workers and evidence to those considering the profession, the value the role gives in their communities.

Roy Barnes, Head of commissioning at Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, for whom Hales Home Care are a Primary Provider said, “This is fantastic and a great way to promote carers and their skills as a professional”.
